Imagine this. Go with me for a second. What do you think your body
would feel like after, oh say approximately, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups
and 300 squats in 20 minutes? Oh! But wait! What if you did 3 sets of your heaviest Cleans before that? Uhh, yeah! That's right your body would be screaming for mercy. You'd actually hear it yell out "UNCLE" when you got out of bed the next morning at 4:30AM. At least I did.
Now imagine this, young grasshopper. What if... say, a day after doing all of that, you walk into the box and you see a WOD that incorporates more of the same movements? Possible? Oh, most certainly. The members of the GYG walked in, glanced at very prestigious whiteboard and gazed in disbelief with that "holy shit" look on our faces. This is what we saw:
"Endure the Suck!"
- 5 Thrusters (40K, 88LBS)
- 7 Hang Power Cleans (40K, 88LBS)
- 10 Sumo Dead Lift High Pulls (40K, 88LBS)
(AMRAP in 20:00)
Okay, so I am embelishing a bit here. It didn't say "Endure the

Suck" but you know, it may as well should. Yes, it was that hard and there was serious "suck-ness" with this WOD. To be perfectly clear, it's not a WOD where you go "Oh man, that just F*!$#*&N sucks man! No way!" It's more of a WOD where you stop and think "Sweet! This one's gonna be great. It'll suck because it's so hard, but in the end, it's gonna be awesome!"
Yeah, that kind of suck. For those that appreciate visuals, allow me to introduce you too the Graveyard Gang's official "Suck-o-meter" which clearly outlines just how much of a "suck factor" that a WOD has. With me now? I thought so.
"Stop being a baby, Dave. You're not scaling to 30K, you're going RX'd at 40K. If you don't go RX'd I am going to send you baby E-mail's the entire day today. I promise you that!" - Tom
We all began loading up the our bars and preparing mentally for this WOD. "How many rounds should we shoot for, Bill? What's the target?" I said. "15!" Pete chimed back immediately. "You're high! 15? Get out of here with your 15." I responded back. Bill, watching the competition already start to take shape looked at the board, looked at all of us and said "Hard to say. It's the first time we've done this WOD. I'd say 10 is a good solid number. 12 would be ideal and you'd be really moving! It won't be easy, that's for sure." Without hesitation, after hearing Bill's comments, Super Dave contemplated moving to 30K. "I don't know Tommy, I might have to scale this one down to 30K." Sensing the hesitation, my taunting reply to Dave was "Stop being a baby, Dave. You're not scaling to 30K, you're going RX'd at 40K. If you don't go RX'd I am going to send you baby E-mail's the entire day today. I promise you that!"
On the count, we all got after the WOD. True to form, it was as
brutal as we thought. On round 2, you could actually here gang
members starting to grunt it out. The humidity kicking in and the music cranking, everyone kept on. Round 3, done. Round 4, done. Round 5, done. We neared the end and Bill's voiced echoed throughout the box and down the road: "Come on guys. Get at it! Dig deeper! Don't stop! Pete, don't let go of that bar, man! Grab it. Tom!? What the hell are you doing? Stop resting and get moving! Final 2 minutes!" In the end when Bill shouted "TIME!" all of us, on queue, stopped working, collapsed in utter exhaustion on the floor and welcomed our friend the Sweat Angel. Another great WOD completed with some great peformances! Did I mention the sweat? E-V-E-R-Y-W-H-E-R-E!
--> Gang Member of the Day: Pete
Battling through a nagging pain in his shoulder, a pain so bad it's hurt him to even move his shoulder, he took a few days off and did some rehab. He comes back today and leads the way with 10 rounds (and change) completed. What can you say? He's just an animal folks. Anyone got a Ribeye you can toss him? Nice work Pete!
Huge effort today folks! Thanks for the B-L-A-S-T!
